Due to the article of Regulation 2023 not being very clear and causing some doubts to agents and participants due to the activation of reserve pigeons for the final, Org AGR will go to tomorrow, September 22nd, to analyze this situation further and we will inform the participants shortly. of the decision.

REGULATION 2023
- The 3 RESERVE pigeons of each team are the pigeons described in the registration form as R1, R2, R3, and are RESERVE of the 2 ACTIVE, and become ACTIVE by order of the registration form, first number R1, then number R2 and then R3, before semi-final, whenever one of the 2 ACTIVE pigeons of a team goes lost, and if the lost returns after semi-final , it becomes a RESERVE pigeon

EN- The 2023 semi-final took place yesterday at the Castelo Branco Aerodrome, 296 km, with 241.900€ in prizes, and the big winner was TEAM FROHMATTA - Josef Lambrigger, from Switzerland who won €60,000.
Bad luck for the owner of the second-placed pigeon who activated all the pigeons he had for the race, except one who was 2nd place, losing the €38,000 prize, which goes to 3rd place.

PEDIGREES
We inform all participants to send their pedigrees to the office address as quickly as possible, and we remind you that if pigeons do not have a pedigree, the owners are not entitled to %% of the sale at auction.
Many participants deliver their pedigrees on the day of the final race in Monte Gordo, but we inform  that  due to the high number of pedigrees delivered, we were unable to find and digitize the pedigrees in the first auctions.

The pigeons classified between 31st and 60th are auctioned the day after the final race, so the pedigrees must be sent to the GPLOFT Auctions website after the arrival of the pigeons, so pedigrees  delivered on the day of the final will not be placed in the auction. , as there is no possibility of searching among the hundreds that are normally delivered to us, and of digitizing them, as all the Organization's staff is involved in the day's events, and thus the owners do not receive a percentage of the sale, which is why we requested to send to the following address by post (originals), or by email - pedigreesalgarve@gmail.com, until September 26th.

EN- EXPLANATION ABOUT RESERVE PIGEONS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SEMI-FINAL ON SEPTEMBER 19TH 2023

REGULATIONS
- Pigeon owners will be able to activate RESERVE pigeons for the semi-final and final, until September 16, 2023, upon payment of €500 per pigeon.
- In the semi-final Castelo Branco 300km, and final Bragança 500km, only ACTIVATED pigeons are entitled to prizes.
- RESERVE pigeons that are not activated by their owners until September 16, 2023, participate in the Castelo Branco semi-final - 300 km, but without the right to prizes.
- The pigeons that return from the Castelo Branco semi-final may be activated by third parties (anyone) until September 24, 2023, to participate in the Bragança-500km final, which will have full rights over the pigeon, being entitled to the prizes won from of this date, and %% in auction sales (35%). The price of each registration/activation per RESERVE pigeon will be 500 euros.
- For activations, contact the agent in your country, or send an email to golden.race.algarve@gmail.com. Reservation requests will be ordered in order of arrival of the request to email, and will only be validated after inserting the Money into the AGR bank account
- All pigeons not activated by owners or third parties by September 25, 2023, will be retained in the pigeon loft – They will not be basketed for the final, and these pigeons will become the property of the organization, which will offer them to pigeon racing clubs or other social organizations .

The 3rd official Portalegre race took place yesterday, September 13th, 230 km, in which the release was carried out at 11.15 am, due to the fact that in the morning there was a lot of fog in the release area and on the flight line to the loft.
After being released, the pigeons divided into several groups, some quickly leaving the area and others taking some more time to orient themselves and leave.
The pigeons arrived at the loft in small groups, very high and with great speed. They are ready for the next races.
The winning pigeon belongs to Harald Below, and arrived at the loft a few seconds ahead of others, entering quickly.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION- UPCOMING RACES & PIGEON ACE 2023
- Due to meteorological problems it was not possible to carry out the second race scheduled for release in Monforte on the scheduled date and which should have been held on September 6th, thus Org AGR decided the following:
- Cancel race 2 of Monforte
- Hold the third race on the 12th of September, Portalegre 230km.
- Hold the Castelo Branco 300km semi-final on September 19th
- The final race will be as scheduled on September 30th, Bragança 500km.
We also inform you that the prizes that would be awarded in the second Monforte race worth €56,100 will be added to the existing prize in the Castelo Branco Semi-final, 300km, totaling €241,900 for the total Semi-Final prize.
The prizes from the second race were added to the semi-final in the same ranking order, for example, 1st in the semi-final was €50,000 plus €10,000 which was the 1st prize in the Monforte race, and so on up to the 100th position.

- Org AGR hereby informs that it has decided to cancel the second official 2023 race, which was scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday 6th September 2023, and will be held in the next few days.
According to information from the Instituto Portugues do mar e da Atmosfera IPMA, there were several earthquakes in the Algarve today and this afternoon in the region of Évora, the release area, there was another earthquake, and according to our experience of more than 30 years in releasing pigeons, Whenever there are earthquakes in the pigeon release areas, or surrounding areas, there are large losses of pigeons, as it is known that earthquakes alter the earth's magnetic field, and the pigeons lose their orientation, which causes immense losses.
So we regret if we are wrong, and we take responsibility for what we have just said, because experience tells us that.

An earthquake with magnitude 2.6 on the Richter scale was recorded today at 3:47 pm in the Évora area, reported the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
The earthquake, with an epicenter located around eight kilometers west of Évora, was recorded at the Continente Seismic Network stations, IMPA said in a statement.
This earthquake, according to the information available from IPMA, until the statement was issued, “did not cause personal or material damage and was felt with maximum intensity IV (modified Mercalli scale) in the municipality of Évora”.
“It was also felt with less intensity in the municipality of Montemor-o-Novo (Évora)”, according to the statement, adding that, if the situation warrants it, new statements will be issued.
“Locating the epicenter of an earthquake is a complex physical and mathematical process that depends on the data set, algorithms and seismic wave propagation models,” added the institute.

8th TRAINING 2023, AMARELEJA-115KM

The 8th training session of 2023 took place on Saturday the 19th of August, with release in Amareleja, close to the border with Spain, as fog and low clouds were expected in the more central area of country. As expected, on the morning of the release, there was a corridor along the flight line, and up to Monte Gordo with good visibility and no fog, which led us to carry out the release.
We now see that something did not go well, as many pigeons were missing, assuming that we do not know why, as everything indicated that training would go well, we think that some group of pigeons moved further to the center of the country, entering the foggy area and they couldn't get out.
We regret what happened, and we will recover and prepare the pigeons for the next flights.
Since this week the maximum temperatures are above 40º, and the minimums are also very high, we will wait, and we will let you know the day of the next flight.

- 8TH TRAINING 2023- SATURDAY AUGUST 19- 115KM
With an increase in temperatures expected for the next week, for the area scheduled for the releases, and being in daily contact with the Meteorologist, Org AGR decided to carry out the next training session tomorrow, Saturday, August 19th, since the pigeons were not subjected to great effort in the last training, and recovered well.
The release is scheduled for a distance of between 115 and 120 km, as only tomorrow morning will we know exactly the best place for the release, as low clouds and some fog are expected in some areas where the release may occur, with indications that it may there will be some areas without, or with little morning fog.

The Release of the 7th training was scheduled for Beja, 100 km, but when we arrived at the release place, we verified the existence of low clouds and some fog in the area. After waiting some time at the place, we found that despite there being some wind, the clouds and fog were not decreasing, so after contacting the meteorologist we decided to move the trucks to another location, where it would be possible to carry out the release.
The release was carried out in Vale Açor, 80km away, and the pigeons left the area quickly after being released, as there was good visibility.
The pigeons arrived at the loft, first in a large group, then in small groups.

On Sunday, August 13, the sixth training session of 2023 took place with the release of pigeons in Mertola, at a distance of 50 km.
We chose to release it in the same place as the previous training session, as the previous one was a difficult training one, we understood that to give confidence to the pigeons, we should not go too far.
The release was made at 7.30 am, with clear skies and northwest wind and with a temperature of 18 degrees, which by 11 am would reach 25 degrees, which was very good for the month of August in Portugal.
The pigeons after the release were divided into several groups, as has happened in previous releases, and once again a group of pigeons spent some time flying in the area, only leaving the release site some time later.
The arrival took place in several groups, large and small.

EN- 6th TRAINING 2023 VALE AÇOR- 75KM CANCELED

The 6th training session of 2023 was scheduled for tomorrow, the 9th of August 2023, but after contact with the official meteorologist, and due to the atmospheric conditions forecast for tomorrow with a minimum temperature of 23º and a maximum of 43º, it is not possible to carry out the training, leaving canceled until conditions are good, which is expected to happen from next Saturday, August 12th.
We also inform you that if the temperatures allowed us to carry out the training, this would not be possible as we currently have 15 large fires in Portugal, and 1 of the largest at about 80 km from the loft, which causes the air to be polluted with smoke and sparks, which also would not allow training.

 Fifth training 2023 with release in Mertola 50 km.
Yesterday the fifth training 2023 took place with the release of pigeons in Mertola, at a distance of 50 km. The release was held at 7.30 am, with clear skies and zero wind and with a temperature of 21 degrees, which we knew would rise quickly and that by 9 am it would already be 28 degrees, but normaly the pigeons would be by that time in the loft , as we estimated a 40-minute flight.

The fourth training session of 2023 took place today with the release of pigeons in Pereiro at a distance of 25km. The release was made at 7.30 am, with clear skies and strong west wind. INFORMATION ABOUT BASKETING FOR TRAININGS.

The Golden Race Organization informs that due to the high temperatures expected for the next training sessions, and with the high number of pigeons to be basketed in Benzing, basketing lasts several hours, as well as we want to basket the pigeons as late as possible, when it's less hot, we can't be passing the pigeons through the basket one by one in the benzing, and we don't see any interest in that, because all the pigeons that are in the loft have a chip assigned, so they will register on arrival.
So in training, we will basket the pigeons directly into the transport boxes, and all the pigeons that go to training, when they arrive, register in the arrivals benzing system.

We also inform you that when the official HOT SPOTS races start, on August 25th, the pigeons will no longer be basketed directly into the transport boxes, and all will be basketed and registered in the benzing system one by one.

FIRST TRAINNING 2023 AERODROME 3 KM
Today, the first training session of 2023 took place at an Aerodrome, 3 km from the loft.
- The training helped the pigeons to get used to the baskets, to being inside the truck one night and being released for the first time without being in the loft.
- Some pigeons flew just a few minutes, others a little longer, and arrived in large groups at the loft.

After we finish assigning the benzing chips to all the pigeons that were in the loft on the 14th of July, we publish the list.
In the first training we will check all the washers, to see if any pigeons lost in the first flights around the loft have returned, and we will assign a benzing chip.

Once the entries of pigeons for the edition of the Golden race Algarve- Million Euro Pigeon Race 2023 at the end of May were completed, the entire office team was focused on registering the pigeons in Benzing, so that we could publish the entered pigeons.

The pigeons entered in the loft in March from several countries, were placed in lofts separated by country of transport, and after having been vaccinated, and undergoing preventive treatments and they are now leaving for the small voliere to get used to the area surrounding. According to the opinion of the Portuguese Tax Authority and Portuguese law, all participants / members living in Portugal who have received money from prizes, sales of pigeons or commissions, will be responsible for paying the IRS tax (25%), referring to these amounts, with retention for part of the AGR of this amount, which will then be sent to the Tax Authority, as required by law. Non-residents in Portugal are exempt from paying the tax, with no withholding (25%), and prizes will be paid in full, but winners need send to AGR email CERTIFICATE TAX RESIDENCE, or model 21-RFI stamped; if they do not present proof of residence out of Portugal, the AGR will have to deduct 25% from the prize money, and then send this money to the Portuguese Tax Authorit
